Technological, industrial and innovative event for the agrifood sector
On October 29, within the framework of the EXPO AGRITECH fair in Málaga, FIAB and ESCAN organised a workshop under the BETTED project. The event aimed to increase awareness and share knowledge among different stakeholders linked to the dairy sector — including energy managers, non-energy experts within companies, and financial institutions — about opportunities to improve energy efficiency and sustainability in food processing.
During the session, FIAB presented general information about the BETTED project, including its objectives, partners involved, or results available. Participants also learned about the free online training courses available through the project, designed to build capacity in energy management and sustainable practices. In addition, the workshop showcased the seven BETTED tools, along with their YouTube video tutorials explaining how to use them and what benefits they provide for industrial users.

An open workshop session encouraged active participation from the audience. Topics covered strategies to improve energy efficiency, particularly in the dairy sector but also in other industrial fields, the use of industrial heat pumps, the BETTED calculation tool for assessing energy savings and economic benefits with heat pumps, and photovoltaic energy systems, with a focus on understanding their advantages and how to calculate their efficiency.
Holding this event within the context of EXPO AGRITECH provided a great opportunity to connect with new industries interested in BETTED’s results and to promote collaboration towards a cleaner and more efficient food and drink industry.
