On May 22, 2025, the BETTED project was presented during the Annual General Assembly of the French Association of Refrigeration (AFF), held in Rungis, France, a major event for professionals working in refrigeration and the agri-food industry.
During the event, our partner Ina Colombo from the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIF) had the opportunity to present the BETTED project. She outlined the project’s approach to supporting energy efficiency improvements in the dairy sector, with a particular focus on empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to implement practical, low-carbon solutions.
The event featured a range of technical sessions on challenges such as CO₂-based refrigeration and heat recovery, decarbonization of food processing, innovations in cold chain logistics, and the impact of urban policies on last-mile delivery. BETTED’s presence alongside these discussions highlighted its alignment with broader efforts to reduce the environmental impact of the refrigeration sector.
Refrigeration is both vital to food safety and one of the most energy-intensive processes in the agri-food sector — making it a strategic point of intervention for sustainability. In this context, BETTED’s focus on practical energy efficiency solutions for the dairy industry made it a natural and valuable addition to the AFF General Assembly, where innovation and climate-conscious refrigeration practices were front and center.
