The BETTED project was showcased at the International Conference on Sustainable Energy & Environmental Protection (SEEP 2026), held from 20–23 July 2026 in Rome, Italy. The conference brought together researchers, industry experts and policymakers from around the world to discuss the latest developments in sustainable energy technologies and environmental protection.
BETTED was presented by the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) during the dedicated panel session “Industrial Heat Pumps: From Policy and Market Developments to Research, Innovation and Funding Opportunities.” The session explored the key role of industrial heat pumps in supporting Europe’s transition towards a more sustainable and energy-efficient industrial sector.
The session highlighted how Europe’s evolving policy framework, growing market momentum and EU funding programmes, including Horizon Europe, LIFE and the Innovation Fund, are supporting the deployment of industrial heat pumps across multiple sectors. Drawing on experiences from several European initiatives, the session demonstrated how collaborative research and innovation projects are helping industries accelerate their decarbonisation efforts.
As part of the discussion, BETTED was presented as an example of how the dairy sector can benefit from advanced heat pump technologies to improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support the transition towards climate-neutral production.
The panel also addressed the main challenges that still need to be overcome to accelerate the deployment of industrial heat pumps, including technical integration, investment costs, financing mechanisms and market barriers. Participants discussed how continued collaboration between industry, researchers, policymakers and EU-funded projects will be essential to unlock the full potential of industrial heat pumps across European manufacturing sectors.
By participating in SEEP 2026, BETTED further strengthened its visibility within the European sustainable energy community and reinforced its commitment to promoting innovative solutions that support the decarbonisation of the dairy industry and contribute to the EU’s climate and energy objectives.
