Rome, Italy — February 3-5, 2026

The University of Brescia (UNIBS), coordinators of the BETTED project, actively participated at Zero Carbon Industry – Efficiency, Resources, Competitiveness, Europe relevant event on industrial decarbonisation organized by the European Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (eceee). Held from 3–5 February 2026 at Roma Eventi, the three-day event brought together experts, policy makers, industry leaders, and researchers to discuss pathways toward a competitive, climate-neutral European industrial landscape.

UNIBS presentation attracted significant attention with the presentation titled “The BETTED Framework: A Systemic Approach to Energy Transition and Circularity in the Dairy Industry”, where they highlighted the sector’s dual challenge: high energy consumption and complex waste streams. The BETTED methodology proposes a holistic transformation model capable of supporting small and medium-sized dairy enterprises in their transition to low-carbon, circular production systems.

The Zero Carbon Industry event emphasized that Europe’s industrial transformation will require aligned efforts across innovation, policy, and market mechanisms. Initiatives like BETTED project demonstrate how research and innovation can directly support industrial competitiveness while advancing climate neutrality goals for 2040 and beyond.
