Madrid, Spain – 18 November 2025. A new training seminar of the BETTED project was held at FIAB headquarters, organised by FIAB and ESCAN within the framework of the Production and Sustainability Working Group of the Technological Platform Food for Life-Spain (PTF4LS). The platform brings together companies from the food and beverage industry, research and technology centres, startups, innovation providers, policymakers and other stakeholders, who meet regularly to exchange knowledge and promote innovation across the agri-food sector.
FIAB’s headquarters once again offered a strategic setting for the event, reinforcing its key role in the Spanish agri-food ecosystem and its commitment to sustainability, technological development and cross-sectoral collaboration.
The seminar addressed a broad range of current priorities for the food industry, with particular attention to sustainability, energy efficiency, digital transformation, and emerging technologies applicable across multiple value chains. The session opened with an update on the strategic lines and upcoming activities of the PTF4LS working group, followed by a series of technical presentations delivered by experts from industry and research organisations.
A central focus of the programme was the energy efficiency of the dairy sector, introduced through an overview of the BETTED project by FIAB. The presentation highlighted opportunities to improve performance and reduce environmental impacts in one of the most energy-intensive segments of the food industry. ESCAN expanded on these topics with practical insights into photovoltaic solutions and heat pump systems, and showcased the training materials and calculation tools developed within BETTED, designed to support companies in their transition toward more efficient and sustainable production models.

The seminar was held in Spanish and counted by stakeholders from across the agri-food value chain. This session served as a platform to strengthen knowledge exchange, explore practical tools, and identify emerging opportunities for technological innovation and new energy efficiency measures. The diversity of participants—from industrial companies to research centres and innovators—contributed to enriching discussions and reinforced the collaborative spirit of the working group.

The BETTED project will continue celebrating training sessions and supporting the food industry in advancing sustainability and energy performance across Europe.
